Gala Preparations

With only a couple of weeks to go to the Diesel Gala a quick update on the locos.

37714

We have completed the head change on A4 cylinder, once the old head was off we were able to see the cause of the problem, which was a dropped exhaust valve there was luckily, no damage to the piston crown. The head was replaced and the loco started with no further faults found.

A minor fault was discovered with the radiator fan during the running day on the 2nd April, this was quickly repaired and the loco operated without fault on the 3rd

D6700

Has been receiving minor attention in the shed at Swithland since she arrived. We have carried out further paintwork and done some minor work.

Prior to the move to Swithalnd 6700 underwent an acceptance exam and a Fitness to run Exam with no faults found and underwent an A exam.

The next event will be a working day on both locos on the 23rd April which will see D6700 undergo loaded test runs with 37714 prior to the Gala
