Winter Work

Now that the Christmas services have finished and the Festive break is over, work has started on the Winter maintenance for both locos.

37714 has completed its C exam which is an extensive examination of the underframe, engine and electrical systems as well as its annual brake test. All the work was completed on a wet January Saturday with no work arising. She is now being used once again by the Ops Dept during the week.

The pre-heater is well on the way to being commissioned with just the water pipes too change and some wiring, this will be a valuable tool in preventing damage from cold weather starts.


6700 has started its B exam and is 50% complete. It will receive a new set of batteries as its existing set are life expired. It will also receive attention to the B1 cylinder which has a small issue. The work will be completed in time for the Spring Gala
